The Tianmu Electrician Guangming Volunteer Service Center of State Grid Xinchang County Power Supply Company visited Jianchen Disability Home on May 16 to hold a "sunshine power classroom" activity, teaching electrical safety awareness to people with special needs. The event was a strong demonstration of social responsibility and an important part of this year's Social Responsibility Week.

Jianchen Disability Home is a public welfare facility that serves local people with intellectual or mental disabilities. It provides free day care, rehabilitation training, and recreational activities, along with sheltered employment based on each person's individual ability level.

The home currently looks after more than 30 residents with varying degrees of disability, many of whom have limited self‑care skills and little awareness of daily life dangers, so they need extra care from the community.

Understanding these special needs, the volunteer team prepared easy‑to‑follow teaching materials with many pictures and interactive activities.

During the class, they spoke slowly and used real‑life scenarios to explain basic safety rules, such as not touching electrical devices with wet hands, unplugging appliances during thunderstorms, and recognizing safe electricity signs. The atmosphere was lively, with many residents actively answering questions and sharing their thoughts.

A teacher from the disability home said that although the residents are adults, many function at a low intellectual level and have a very weak understanding of electrical safety. The home's usual reminders had limited effect, but Tianmu Electrician's session gave them a thorough and helpful lesson on using electricity safely.

By tailoring the "sunshine power classroom" activity to vulnerable groups, this initiative fulfilled a real social responsibility.

In the future, Tianmu Electrician will continue exploring new ways to teach power safety, deepen cooperation with special needs communities, and let "sunshine power" protect more people in need.
