Tianmu volunteers increase electrical safety of rural homes
In Huangnitian village in Shaoxing's Xinchang county, an elderly resident said his home's old, exposed wires had been chewed by rats several times, forcing him to repeatedly wrap them with electrical tape.
After volunteers replaced the worn wiring, he expressed relief, saying that with the new wires, he finally felt safe using electricity.

A branch of the Tianmu electrician guangming volunteer service team has visited the village to upgrade post-meter wiring for low-income households. Following strict safety procedures, the volunteers removed old wires, installed new ones, and secured them neatly inside PVC conduits to prevent accidental contact.
They also replaced old bulbs with energy-saving lamps, improving brightness while cutting electricity costs. Throughout the process, they explained electrical safety tips and reminded residents to take precautions.

This service is part of a joint charity project launched in July 2024 by provincial, municipal, and county charities, local government, State Grid Xinchang County Power Supply Company, and the Tianmu electrician volunteer center.
The project aims to eliminate electrical hazards, improve living conditions, and enhance quality of life. So far, 296 low-income households have received wiring upgrades.
