State Grid Tongwei strengthens power line defenses
To support high-standard farmland construction and prevent external damage to power lines, State Grid Tongwei County Power Supply Company recently launched a special inspection campaign. It combined UAV aerial patrols with manual on-site checks in a three-dimensional approach.
Heavy machinery like excavators and bulldozers now operates frequently in the fields. Accidental contact or overheight operations can easily damage power lines.
To precisely control these risks, the company introduced full-coverage UAV inspections. These focus on hazards such as insufficient safety clearances and non-compliant work under the lines.
Meanwhile, maintenance staff visited the construction sites for on-the-ground verification. They recorded hazard locations, affected areas, and responsible construction units to ensure no risks were missed.
For all identified hazards, the company followed the principle of immediate correction, categorized handling, and closed-loop management. It reported the findings to all county-level authorities and proactively worked with industry regulators.
Together, they established a coordination mechanism for information sharing, joint supervision, and regular patrols to prevent external damage risks at the source.
Looking ahead, the company will continue to fulfill its power supply responsibilities. It plans to further expand the use of intelligent UAV inspections and improve the system for dynamic hazard identification, rapid response, and the long-term control of external damage risks to power lines.
