As the flood season arrives, State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company has strengthened its emergency response against extreme weather. The company recently held flood prevention drills using new intelligent equipment to ensure stable grid operation and reliable power supply.

Zhenjiang sits in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, where the flood season brings heavy rainfall and frequent severe convection.

Low-lying roads and underpass tunnels are prone to waterlogging, while underground distribution rooms, cable trenches, and substations face high risks of rainwater backflow.

The company said that traditional drainage methods were difficult to transport, time-consuming, and labor-intensive. On-site mobility relied on manual towing, which led to low efficiency and high safety risks in muddy terrain. Large equipment could not access narrow spaces, and manual wading posed serious hazards.

To overcome these bottlenecks, State Grid Zhenjiang introduced a new autonomous drainage robot.

According to the company, the robot features a self-developed self-propelled chassis that is compact and lightweight, allowing a single person to complete loading and unloading in just two minutes. Its tracked design provides strong mobility across muddy and rugged ground, and it can operate steadily in 10 centimeters of standing water without external towing.

Equipped with a high-efficiency hydraulic power unit and a high-flow submersible pump, the robot boasts a maximum drainage capacity of 200 cubic meters per hour and a lift height of 15 meters, enabling rapid water pumping.

The robot is fully remote-controlled, keeping operators safely away from hazardous areas. It is suitable for multiple scenarios, including underground distribution rooms, cable trenches, and low-lying urban roads.

The company said that deploying this intelligent drainage robot is a key initiative meant to strengthen flood control through technology and to modernize the grid's emergency capabilities.

The robot improves the mobility, safety, and efficiency of flood-control operations during extreme weather, providing solid technical support for the safe and stable operation of the power grid throughout the flood season and ensuring reliable power supply for local society and residents.
