State Grid Zhejiang ensures smooth green travel for May Day holiday
During the May Day holiday, surging leisure and family travel led to heavy highway traffic across Zhejiang province. Reliable charging for new-energy vehicles became essential for smooth journeys.
State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Company planned ahead and carried out thorough inspections and emergency standby for highway charging facilities, ensuring dependable power supply and attentive service to support safe, green travel.
With the growing number of new-energy vehicles, charging poles at highway service areas faced sustained high loads, raising demands on reliability and maintenance.
The company created a holiday power security plan in advance, mobilized maintenance resources, and conducted comprehensive inspections of service area charging stations.
Crews performed full health checks on charging units, connectors, screens, cables, distribution cabinets, and fire-safety equipment. Using infrared thermography and load monitoring, they identified risks such as overheating, loose connections, and cable issues, and fixed each problem to ensure all charging assets were in peak condition before the holiday.
Throughout the holiday, charging piles at Zhejiang's highway service areas remained heavily used. The company stationed staff on-site with 24-hour emergency standby, monitoring equipment status and loads in real time, responding quickly to incidents, and resolving faults immediately to keep charging orderly.
For first-time users unfamiliar with the process, staff provided one-on-one guidance, explaining each step — scan, plug, start, and pay — and shared safe charging practices, greatly improving the customer experience.
A driver charging at a service area said he had been worried about the prospect of long queues and complicated procedures, but the full guidance made charging fast and caring, leaving him feeling much more secure. Efficient, convenient charging and meticulous power support did more to facilitate environmentally-friendly travel.
Looking ahead, the company will continue tracking travel trends, increase inspection frequency, strengthen its monitoring and emergency response times, and refine its overall services. With full-grid power, it remains committed to safeguarding green travel for all.
