State Grid Quzhou rolls out tailored policies to boost hydropower output
"Thank you for your proactive door-to-door service. Not only did you help us clear obstacles and resume operations quickly, but you also brought us cutting-edge technology. This attentive service gives us full confidence in the upcoming spring flood power generation season," said Xu Changyong, head of Shuangta Hydropower Station in Jiangshan, Quzhou, on March 9, to the staff from the Dispatch and Control Sub-center of State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company.
In recent days, the Dispatch and Control Sub-center of State Grid Quzhou has organized service teams to visit hydropower stations across the city. Through equipment inspection, procedure briefings, and UAV inspections, the teams have fortified safety defenses for stations resuming operations and preparing for the imminent spring flood season, ensuring stable and reliable power supply throughout the city and helping hydropower stations quickly ramp up operations for the new year.
"Generator temperature is normal, but the transformer's B-phase connector requires tightening," said a service worker conducting an inspection at Shuangta Hydropower Station. The team thoroughly inspected core equipment including generators, circuit breakers, and relay protection devices using infrared thermometers. Combining historical operational data, the team focused on examining equipment heat dissipation performance and insulation aging conditions. Because the mountainous, densely forested terrain around the station makes manual inspection of customer-dedicated lines difficult, the team deployed UAVs equipped with infrared thermal imaging systems to conduct specialized aerial patrols. The UAVs accurately identified hazards such as abnormal conductor sag and partial discharge on insulators, assisting the station in establishing hazard and defect registries while providing recommendations for defect elimination — ensuring the station enters the peak power generation period with no defects.
"In the past, our understanding of procedures remained at the theoretical level. This hands-on drill has given us a better idea of how to carry out grid-connection operations," Xu remarked during exchanges with the service team. "The power supply company's experts, combining the station's actual wiring diagrams, simulated equipment disconnection and grid-connection procedures on-site. By screening accident warning videos of malfunctions, they strengthened our understanding of the 'two permits, three systems' protocols, and helped operating personnel improve the dispatch command repetition recording system and the dual-review mechanism for operation tickets. This support has been truly timely."
To date, State Grid Quzhou has provided specialized resumption-of-production services to 32 hydropower stations in Jiangshan using its "One Station, One Policy" service mechanism. Moving forward, the company will continue to enhance its tech-driven service approach through the construction of digital monitoring platforms and regular expert team door-to-door services, ensuring that clean hydropower is generated reliably, transmitted smoothly, and utilized effectively, fully supporting the development of the hydropower industry and injecting green momentum into rural vitalization.
