As China's traditional Lantern Festival approaches, merchants in the ancient city of Xuchang, Henan province, are busily arranging festive decorations in anticipation of the joyous moment when the colorful lanterns are lit.

On Feb 27, Lyu Chao, a substation area manager with the Chengxi Power Supply Department, received an urgent call from merchant Zhang Lei, whose shop's decorative lights had suddenly failed ahead of the evening's lighting ceremony due to a tripped circuit breaker.

Upon receiving the repair request, Lyu and colleague Ma Zhenjiang immediately rushed to the scene with emergency equipment. With less than an hour to go before the lighting ceremony started, Zhang's shop remained in complete darkness. Zhang rushed forward with relief upon seeing the technicians turn up.

Upon arriving at the shop, the two technicians immediately began troubleshooting. After examining the distribution panel and testing connection points, they quickly identified the cause: a loose wire joint had created a short circuit, tripping the circuit breaker.

With time running out, the two technicians worked in a coordinated division of labor — Lyu repaired the faulty circuit while Ma conducted safety testing. Lyu rewrapped the joint with insulating tape as Ma tested each decorative lighting circuit.

In just over ten minutes, the fault was fixed and the circuit breaker reset. The decorative lights lit up, filling the shop with color. "I can't thank you enough — today's event would have been ruined without your quick response," Zhang said gratefully.

Before leaving, Lyu and Ma reminded him: "Power consumption peaks during Lantern Festival — inspect your circuits regularly and contact us immediately if any issues arise." They then hurried to their next inspection point.

The company's prompt response ensured the shop's lights were restored in time for the Lantern Festival celebrations.
