Jiaxing completes upgrade of 220 kV substation control system
Jiaxing has successfully installed its new-generation centralized control system in all 41 of its 220 kV substations, marking significant progress toward smarter grid management.
The milestone was achieved on Feb 25 after the newly built 220 kV Xucun Substation completed full integration work. All substations under the Hecheng and Nanhu centralized control stations of State Grid Jiaxing Power Supply Company have now met requirements for primary operation under the new system.
This achievement paves the way for implementing the system at the 500 kV Wangdian station and county-level facilities, with the ultimate goal of unified control across the entire Jiaxing power network.
The advanced system integrates multiple core functions including operation monitoring, remote control, intelligent assistance, and business management. It provides real-time supervision of substation equipment, meeting the growing demands for precision in modern grid operations.
To prepare for the transition, the company adopted a phased approach divided into three main tasks: inspection of interval completeness, verification of graphic database associations, and full-station remote control preset testing.
During data verification, the team introduced an intelligent point-checking device that automatically compares system databases with signal point tables and verifies the accuracy of telemetry and remote signaling associations on monitoring screens. This innovation significantly improved data validation efficiency and accuracy.
For remote control testing, both the master station and substations implemented dual safety measures to ensure secure and accurate procedures.
Operation personnel collaborated closely with construction teams to maintain graphic databases and conduct coordinated debugging of telemetry and remote control functions. The team also continuously upgraded advanced system applications while assuming routine inspection responsibilities.
The platform's event-based notification function has been fully optimized. When equipment faults or abnormal conditions occur, the system automatically analyzes signals, identifies the event nature, and sends early warnings to monitoring personnel.
This enhances emergency response efficiency and reduces the risk of missed or misjudged incidents.
According to the company, it will continue advancing the new system's applications and exploring its advanced functions in grid maintenance.
By leveraging digital and intelligent technologies, the company aims to transform the system into a "smart brain" for main grid operations, enhancing both quality and efficiency while ensuring safe and stable power network performance.
