The first batch of wind turbines at Qushan Wind Farm began operating on Feb 12, with all parameters reaching stable levels. After nearly 20 years of operation, the island wind farm has entered a new phase, upgrading from smaller turbines to larger ones and replacing aging equipment.

As a key project supported by the National Energy Administration under the Two New and Two Important initiative and a key technical renovation project in Zhejiang province, the grid connection of the first batch of upgraded units marks another substantial breakthrough for Zhoushan Power Grid in serving the nation's "dual carbon" goals and promoting the green transition.

During preparations for grid connection, State Grid Zhoushan Power Supply Company provided proactive support, participated early in the units' safety commissioning, developed a detailed grid-connection plan, and coordinated operational arrangements. During the grid connection process, it closely monitored key indicators such as generator speed, active power, voltage and frequency, with precise dispatching and rapid response, ensuring the smooth startup and normal operation of the wind turbines.

According to the plan, the Qushan Wind Farm Upgrade Project will achieve full-capacity grid connection by April 30. After that, the annual power generation is expected to reach 340 million kilowatt-hours, equivalent to saving 103,000 metric tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 280,000 tons per year. This steady stream of green energy will inject strong impetus into the high-quality development of the Zhoushan Archipelago New Area and demonstrate the island power sector's commitment to the dual carbon goals outlined in the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).

In the future, State Grid Zhoushan Power Supply Company will continue to strengthen grid-source coordination management, optimize new energy dispatching strategies, ensure that subsequent units of Qushan Wind Farm are smoothly connected to the grid, and contribute to energy security and green transition in island regions with concrete actions.
