Quzhou team successfully conducts live oil replenishment on 110 kV main transformer
At the 110-kilovolt Baima Substation in Mohuan township, Longyou county, Quzhou, on Feb 3, young engineers from the State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company's Substation Operation and Inspection Team completed live oil-replenishment work on the No 1 main transformer's on-load tap changer (OLTC).
This marked the company's first independent live oil-replenishment operation on a 110 kV substation main transformer, not only increasing the proportion of core business performed in-house, but also ensuring the safe and stable operation of critical county-level grid equipment.
Since the localization of 110 kV substation maintenance operations was implemented, the company has organized systematic training for young engineers on the core technologies and operational standards of live OLTC oil-replenishment, addressing the challenge of insufficient independent operational capabilities while solidifying the technical foundation for assuming localized maintenance responsibilities. The young engineers engaged in problem-based learning and expert-led practice, focusing on mastering equipment principles, hazard identification, and standardized work procedures — accumulating crucial experience for independently conducting such operations.
At the work site, the young engineers coordinated seamlessly, strictly following standardized procedures throughout: from de-energizing the main transformer's Buchholz relay protection plate and establishing safety barriers to grounding the oil-replenishment unit, connecting and flushing pipelines, and precisely controlling the oil-replenishment speed and level. Upon completion of the oil-replenishment operation and after a monitoring period confirmed normal equipment operation, site personnel verified that the task had been completed successfully.
Moving forward, State Grid Quzhou will rigorously implement the three-year action plan for fundamental safety production improvement. The company will comprehensively review and summarize the experience gained from this live oil-replenishment operation, accelerate the cultivation of professional maintenance talent, and establish even stronger technical safeguards for the safe and stable operation of the county-level power grid.
