Power supply energizes Yangtze River Delta computing hub in Jiaxing
State Grid Jiaxing Power Supply Company has completed the final inspections of a substation at the Yangtze River Delta Intelligent Computing Base, marking a key milestone ahead of its full operation.
In the digital economy, computing power has become a vital productive force. As a result, Jiaxing is accelerating the construction of a Yangtze River Delta intelligent computing center.
The city hosts Zhejiang's first "10,000-card" computing cluster, which houses major centers operated by firms like China Telecom and China Mobile. Jiaxing leads the province in total computing scale, operational capacity, and capacity under construction.
This computing growth relies on robust power infrastructure. Aligning with the city's computing industry layout, State Grid Jiaxing has been adhering to a "power supply waiting for development" approach.
By coordinating with government departments and proactively identifying sector demand, the company has been fully supporting related projects, accelerating the formation of a new computing hub.
To ensure the success of projects, a dedicated service team was formed for early engagement with authorities. Through government-enterprise coordination, the team advanced substation planning, power line relocation, temporary access, and cable installation, providing the base with tailored, full-life-circle services.
Customer manager Zhang Qiang said that the company conducted multiple advance surveys to address trial operation power needs. A customized 10-kilovolt transitional power supply plan was developed, with full guidance provided throughout the temporary power application process.
Procedures were streamlined during this phase, with design, construction, and acceptance processes advanced in parallel. Three on-site civil and electrical inspections were conducted, while inter-departmental coordination accelerated approvals.
Consequently, two 10-kilovolt transitional power lines were connected within just three months — much faster than usual.
In 2025, the base was connected to multiple transitional 10-kilovolt lines, providing a temporary supply capacity of 49,700 kVA. Supported by this stable power supply, the base recorded an annual consumption of 160 million kWh, effectively meeting all trial operation demands.
As more computing facilities come online, State Grid Jiaxing will continue providing high-quality services for infrastructure construction, enhance supply reliability for operational centers, and explore synergistic development between computing power and electricity in order to fully support the high-quality growth of the industry.
