Quzhou, Zhejiang: Live-line operations ensure reliable rural power supply
Amidst the mountainous terrain of Jinlongdai village, Muchen She ethnic township, Longyou county, Quzhou, Zhejiang province, bright yellow insulated aerial lifts and medium-voltage power support vehicles stood out vividly. Employees from the live-line team of State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company were conducting medium-voltage power supply assurance operations on the distribution lines and equipment of the 10-kilovolt Kailing Line's Wucun branch.
Muchen She ethnic township in Longyou county features vast, mountainous terrain. The local She ethnic community has leveraged these mountains to develop distinctive industries such as high-altitude tea cultivation, bamboo product manufacturing, and She ethnic handicrafts, resulting in steadily expanding electricity demand. The 10-kV Kailing Line's Wucun distribution line bears primary responsibility for supplying power to Wucun village and surrounding natural villages, serving farming households, specialized agricultural product processors, and more. During winter, low temperatures in the region frequently lead to ice accretion on line equipment. To ensure a safe and reliable rural electricity supply, State Grid Quzhou carried out multiple field surveys and engineering designs, ultimately determining that a medium-voltage power supply assurance methodology would best facilitate line equipment maintenance and upgrade work.
At 8:00 am on the day of the operation at the 10-kV Kailing Line worksite, the company's field supervisor issued precise instructions while workers, fully equipped with insulated protective gear, methodically carried out a series of high-altitude operations. Meanwhile, ground monitoring personnel utilized intelligent surveillance cameras to monitor the entire operation in real time, creating multiple layers of protection to fortify on-site safety protocols. By 5:00 pm that evening, line maintenance and upgrade work had been completed, and the medium-voltage power supply assurance operation successfully concluded.
According to reports, since the line maintenance project commenced in November 2025, the local power supply company has conducted nearly 10 live-line operations and three medium-voltage power supply assurance operations, successfully completing a multitude of critical tasks, including line hazard detection and equipment upgrades. This has improved the health status and supply reliability of the rural distribution network.
