Lishui, Zhejiang: Dual-track inspection bolsters power grid during cold wave
Technicians from State Grid Lishui Power Supply Company conducted temperature checks on key equipment at the 110-kilovolt Guyuan Substation on Jan 20. While carefully recording data, they worked to eliminate potential risks and ensure grid reliability amidst a severe cold wave.
As temperatures plunged across Lishui, the company deployed a dual-track inspection strategy, combining remote smart technology with targeted manual patrols. This approach enabled a comprehensive, gap-free assessment of substations, securing power supply for residential areas.
At Guyuan Substation, an experienced technician noted that the internal temperature of a terminal box was normal, with effective sealing and no condensation. He emphasized that during cold waves, it is crucial to check the sealing and moisture resistance of secondary equipment enclosures, alongside primary equipment checks.
Meanwhile, other personnel verified that the oil levels and pressure values of various equipment remained within normal ranges, ensuring operational integrity in low temperatures.
Operating in parallel was a technological aerial patrol. In the company's control room, operators monitored large screens, accessing real-time high-definition footage and data from distant substations such as the 35-kilovolt Huangshayao facility.
This demonstrated the effectiveness of the remote smart inspection system, which has been promoted in recent years.
Lishui's mountainous terrain and expansive area have traditionally made substation inspections time-consuming, with over 60 percent of patrol time spent on travel.
This integrated human‑machine approach has significantly enhanced both efficiency and inspection quality. It reduces field exposure for personnel during severe weather and advances a modern operational model characterized by remote centralized control and smart inspection.
