State Grid Zhenjiang ensures reliable electricity supply for residents
An intelligent system monitoring the power grid in Zhenjiang detected abnormal electricity usage at an elderly resident's home on Jan 13. Within one minute, it identified a single-household outage and sent an alert to the local maintenance team. Staff arrived promptly, found a faulty switch, and restored power — all within just 18 minutes.
Previously, such outages relied on customer reports, causing delays. Now, the "smart power outage assistant" automatically monitors all residential users citywide. It instantly diagnoses issues — whether in-home, building-level, or broader grid faults — and notifies relevant crews within seconds, facilitating more proactive services.
The system also maintains a special care list for elderly residents and users with frequent outages, ensuring prioritized response and proactive communication. Additionally, it generates monthly reports analyzing outage frequency and causes by area, providing data to guide targeted grid maintenance and upgrades.
Since its launch, the system has helped handle hundreds of low-voltage incidents. Using its data, staff can conduct follow-up visits for recurring issues, improving service satisfaction.
This digital tool has increased fault resolution efficiency by about 40 percent, while cumulative outage time has been reduced by approximately 500 customer-hours, enhancing the reliability of power supply for residents.
