Innovative paper cup maker thrives in Shandong

A Shandong-based manufacturer is driving international growth with its high-tech, eco-friendly paper cups. 

Shandong Jinqingmei Environmental Technology Co, located in Ningyang county, Tai'an, East China's Shandong province, has achieved a daily production capacity of 5 million cups — including innovative color-changing and 3D-embossed designs — supplying global markets across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.

The company invested over 2 million yuan ($282,882) in research and development in 2024, a 236 percent year-on-year increase, and now holds 18 patents. Its zero-emission factory produces biodegradable cups that meet internationally recognized quality and safety standards, supporting partnerships with leading beverage brands and transport companies.

Supported by the Ningyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone's innovation-focused policies, Jinqingmei expects an 18 percent rise in annual output, with export orders secured months in advance. The company's growth underscores how local manufacturers are leveraging technology and sustainability to compete globally. (Edited by Li Weiwei)
