Weihai hi-tech park bolsters legal system with new community hearing officers

chinadaily.com.cn |  Updated:2025-11-24

In a significant move to improve local judicial processes, the people's procuratorate of Weihai Torch Hi-tech Science Park has appointed 12 new hearing officers from diverse professional backgrounds. These lawyers, community leaders, and retired officials all bring unique expertise to the park's legal advisory team.

This initiative aims to tap into the wisdom and experience of the community. The hearing officers are expected to handle local conflict resolution and legal interpretation so that judicial procedures are more aligned with public expectations of fairness and justice. By combining their knowledge with the procuratorate's efforts, the legal system gains valuable external perspectives.

In the future, the procuratorate plans to continue improving the training, management, and incentives for these hearing officers. Their roles will evolve to include serving as legal advocates, mediators, and judicial supervisors, further improving the region's legal and social stability. (Edited by Hu Kaili)
