State Grid Puyang Power Supply Company: Powering journey to 'ponds full of fish'
At the breeding base of Henan Huiyuan Fishery Co in the early winter chill of Nov 17, vast stretches of fish ponds glistened in the sunlight as aerators and water quality monitoring equipment operated steadily. A team from State Grid Puyang Power Supply Company visited the frontline of the aquaculture operation, providing customized power services to this specialized fishery enterprise, which focuses on high-density carp farming, and reinforcing the electricity usage "safety net" for winter operations.
"High-density carp farming is extremely dependent on a stable power supply. The aerators and circulating water systems cannot stop for a moment. Now, with temperatures dropping, electricity demand is even more concentrated – your visit is so timely!" said Shen Zhongyang, the head of Huiyuan Fishery, shaking hands with the power service personnel. The company employs a green, organic feed farming model and is equipped with professional water quality testing equipment. The fish grow rapidly and have excellent flesh quality. Currently, during the critical fattening period for mature fish, a stable power supply directly impacts farming profitability.
During the visit, the personnel conducted a comprehensive inspection of the base's power supply lines, distribution boxes, aerator motors, and other equipment, focusing on identifying potential hazards such as insulation aging and poor grounding in the humid environment. In response to winter load characteristics, the team used infrared temperature measurement technology to assess transformer status, analyzed load data via smart systems, forecasted peak electricity usage periods, and developed an optimized peak-shifting power usage plan for the enterprise.
The team also held discussions with the company, inquiring in detail about their production plans and electricity needs. They explained winter safety practices for electricity use and guided employees on the correct operation of aquaculture electrical equipment to prevent malfunctions caused by improper use. Additionally, they demonstrated the online service procedures of the "State Grid Online" App, introduced service measures such as bill payment, fault reporting, and business consultation that allow clients to complete tasks without visiting in person, and established a dedicated electricity usage file for the enterprise.
In recent years, Puyang's aquaculture industry has been developing rapidly, with Fan county alone now having over 38,000 mu (2,533 hectares) of aquaculture area and an annual output value of 150 million yuan ($21.09 million). Specialty fisheries have become a vital pillar of rural vitalization in the region. State Grid Puyang, focusing on the power needs of the aquaculture industry, has launched an innovative "Dedicated Aquaculture Power Service Team" model. They regularly work to ensure power during farming seasons and continuously enhance power supply reliability by expanding transformer capacity, upgrading agricultural grid lines, and more. This visit to Huiyuan Fishery exemplifies the company's targeted services for specialized industries.
Though the cold winter has arrived, their services remain uninterrupted. As winter production proceeds in an orderly manner, a reliable power supply will continue to stand by the breeders, ensuring the safe overwintering of aquatic products and supporting increased income for the people. It contributes a solid electrical force to painting a new rural picture characterized by prosperous industry and a livable ecology.
