Weihai hi-tech park ensures smooth autumn harvest
Amid continuous autumn rains, Weihai Torch Hi-tech Science Park has taken swift and coordinated actions to protect grain harvests and support local farmers. Centered in Chucun town, the initiative connects flood control, harvesting, grain drying, and replanting to maintain both efficiency and crop quality.
To address excessive moisture in fields, teams have cleared and dredged over 28 kilometers of drainage ditches and deployed mobile pumps to remove standing water. For overly wet plots, manual trenching and deep tillage have been combined to speed up soil drying and prepare farmland for machinery operations.
Two local drying centers, each with a daily capacity of 210 metric tons, are offering 24-hour services to handle freshly harvested wet grain. For small-scale farmers, a "direct purchase and centralized drying" model has been introduced to minimize losses and ensure safe storage.

The town is advancing corn harvesting and wheat planting in parallel. With 13 harvesters operating daily across 700 mu (around 47 hectares), the autumn harvest is expected to conclude within 10 days. Seeds and fertilizers are already ready for the next planting phase.
Through careful coordination and timely response, Weihai Torch Hi-tech Science Park is ensuring a stable grain supply and reinforcing the foundation for next season's agricultural success. (Edited by Hu Kaili)
