State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company creates a 'five-minute charging circle' to enhance the charging experience for rural road trips

The National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday is approaching, and many people choose to travel. According to the forecast, more than 1.5 billion people will travel by car during the long holiday. In view of the concentrated travel volume during the long holiday, outstanding road network pressure, and large demand for new energy charging, many places have strengthened protection for popular routes, regions, and attractions to enhance the road trip experience.

In Shiye town, Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province, the island's rich tourism resources and natural endowments have attracted a large number of tourists, and the traffic flow has increased by more than 50 percent compared with the past. The local power department carried out special inspections and upgrades of charging facilities in advance, optimized the layout of charging stations, and created a "five-minute charging circle" on the island, effectively relieving the charging pressure during peak hours at popular scenic spots.

"Previously, we have completed the upgrading of charging piles on the whole island, and focused on installing seven sets of fast charging piles in scenic spots with large traffic such as Pioneer Village Strawberry Garden and Happy Leisure Expo Park. Now the maximum charging power of charging piles can reach 160,000 watts," introduced by Cai Jianxiong, operation and maintenance support personnel of State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company.

During the holiday period, the local power department urgently deployed more than 30 operation and maintenance support personnel to stand by and deal with charging faults in time, and arranged special personnel to equip emergency charging cards to guide car owners to "go as they charge", effectively relieving the charging pressure and vehicle congestion during peak hours in popular scenic spots. "After arriving here, we found that there is fast charging next to the scenic spot, and the next charging station will arrive in five minutes, which makes driving more and more convenient," tourist Mr Wang praised.
