State Grid Jiaxing company launches unified EV charging stations
On Sept 12, the first batch of unified public EV charging stations, installed by State Grid Jiaxing Power Supply Company in Jiashan and Pinghu of Jiaxing city, Zhejiang province, were put into operation.
"Wonderful! Now there are charging piles right at my doorstep. I no longer need to drive far to find a place to charge. It's so convenient!" said one local resident.
In recent years, the number of new energy vehicles has continued to rise, making "easy to drive but hard to charge" a growing concern among residents. The problem is especially acute in older residential communities and relocation housing, where parking and space limitations hinder the installation of charging facilities.
To address this, State Grid has focused on the public parking resources of densely populated residential areas, integrating charging station development with old community upgrades and the construction of future communities, both urban and rural.
By implementing a "unified planning, unified construction and unified operation" model for public charging stations in these neighborhoods, the company is seeking to both safeguard residents' electricity needs and effectively resolve charging difficulties.
At Taoyuan Xincun in Yaozhuang town, Jiashan county, the launch of 10 charging piles and 20 charging parking spaces has benefited residents. As Jiashan's first pilot resettlement community, Taoyuan Xincun is home to 1,194 farming households and 7,574 permanent residents relocated from eight surrounding villages. The newly opened charging facilities not only meet the daily charging needs of community residents but are also open to new energy vehicles just passing through, greatly improving the coverage and utilization of charging infrastructure in the area.
"The unified construction and operation model for charging stations has clear advantages: lower costs, higher efficiency in construction and operation, and the elimination of safety hazards caused by scattered and disorderly installations," said Ye Yang, a staff member at the State Grid.
"The first batch of five sites with 43 charging piles is now in service. Next, we will expand the model to Haining and Tongxiang, further easing charging difficulties for residents of older neighborhoods and strengthening the regional charging infrastructure network."
The State Grid says it will continue to be guided by user needs, continuously improving service quality and response efficiency. The company adds that it intends to explore innovative charging service models tailored to public needs, while accelerating upgrades to community power distribution facilities.
By providing safer, more reliable electricity services, it aims to ensure convenient travel and enhance the quality of life for residents — powering a more comfortable and sustainable future.
