State Grid Zhenjiang accelerates home EV charger installation
The State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company is streamlining the installation of home charging stations to meet growing demand from new energy vehicle owners.
"With the rise of NEVs, many residents — especially in older communities — face difficulties such as limited power access and a shortage of dedicated charging spaces," said Jiang Renxin, head of the company's EV services department.
To address these issues, the company surveyed 15 aging residential neighborhoods and adopted a proactive strategy known as "pre-positioned power supply points." By planning power access, the company aims to reduce wait times and simplify the installation process.
Upon receiving an application, the company prepares a comprehensive charging layout for all parking spaces in the community. It also upgrades supporting infrastructure, including distribution transformers, cable ducts, and branch boxes, reducing the distance between power sources and charging piles and speeding up grid connections.
As of now, 7,968 private chargers have been installed in Yangzhong, a county-level city in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province, achieving full one-kilometer charging service coverage in core urban areas. The average processing time for new power applications has been cut to 4.3 working days, down 27 percent year-on-year.
