County in Shandong showcases cultural treasures to global students

A group of seven foreign students from France, Belgium, and other countries who are currently studying at Shandong Vocational Animal Science and Veterinary College recently visited the Laolongwan Scenic Area in Linqu county, Weifang as part of a university-organized trip.

In the beautiful Laolongwan Scenic Area, students participated in various aspects activities related to Chinese intangible cultural heritage. They dressed in elegant hanfu attire and took part in activities related to etiquette, paper cutting, lacquer fan painting, and hand-woven crafts, and they even had the chance to make their own reed screens by hand.

The participants learned Chinese etiquette under the guidance of teachers. Another highlight was the intricate process of creating lacquer fans, where the students witnessed the cultural significance and artistry involved.

The students learned to create intricate designs using a crochet needle and thread. They were impressed by the skilled techniques demonstrated by practitioners of intangible cultural heritage.
In addition, the students visited the intangible cultural heritage experience center to learn the traditional art of handmade straw grate making. Liu Yueqing, a practitioner of the craft, guided them through the history and techniques of creating intricate designs by shaping small straw pieces.
