Chengwu county in Shandong's Heze boasts lush forests, abundant crops, crisscrossing rivers, and rich wetland resources. Its unique geographical location and natural environment provide an ideal habitat for birds, making it a gathering place for many important migratory birds and one of the main migration routes for them.
In recent years, Chengwu has been placing greater emphasis on environmental protection. While promoting urbanization, it focuses on scientific development to create a more beautiful natural environment. The county has made full use of its urban lakes in an effort to create an ecological water system.
While actively developing the cultural tourism industry in the Wenting Lake Wetland Park scenic area, the county adheres to the principle of balancing urban lake development with environmental protection. It has established a bird island, transforming Wenting Lake into a beautiful bird paradise, highlighting the ecological beauty of Chengwu, and attracting an increasing number of birdwatchers.
Wenting Lake and Dongyu River National Wetland Park in Chengwu county are currently home to 114 species of bird, accounting for 72 percent of the total animal species. This includes two species under national first-level protection and 26 under second-level protection. (Edited by Xie Zhenzhen)
