As the hot and dry weather has adversely impacted summer planting and management efforts, the resonant hum of water pumps signals the gradual irrigation of fields in Dayoujia village, situated in Zhengwang town within the Hedong district of Linyi city in East China's Shandong province. Pristine water trickles gently into the soil, revitalizing once desiccated and fissured farmland.

At present, the region is amid a pivotal period for summer crop cultivation. To address the water requirements crucial for drought resilience and seedling protection across the area, local authorities have mobilized resources to procure water pumps, pipelines, electrical infrastructure, and other essential supplies, orchestrating a concerted effort involving manpower and machinery to execute drought mitigation and seedling safeguarding initiatives.

According to meteorological forecasts, the trend of blistering heat and scarce rainfall is anticipated to persist in the days ahead. Hedong district is implementing tailored strategies for each village and specific land parcels, optimizing the utilization of existing water reservoirs like wells, ponds, and irrigation channels, intensifying field oversight, rallying farmers for self-rescue endeavors, and diligently advancing drought resilience and disaster alleviation measures. Taking a proactive approach of preempting disasters, intervening promptly, and fortifying defenses during critical junctures, the district aims to curtail losses for its populace.
