Shandong's Weihai advances textile industry
In recent years, textile and garment enterprises in Weihai, East China's Shandong province, have innovated and diversified their development, aiming to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the textile industry.
For the traditional textile industry, a lack of information flow between the supply side and the production side has always been an obstacle to the industry's development. As early as 2017, Dishang Group in Weihai established a vertical ecological supply chain platform for textile and garment materials, connecting over 4,000 global material suppliers and making it easier for the company to conduct production and sales activities.
Last year, leveraging a robust supply chain platform and the application of new technologies such as 3D and AI, Dishang Group began venturing into the field of academic dress. To date, they have developed nearly a hundred designs for academic dresses and provided complete design solutions for academic dresses to dozens of universities nationwide.
In recent years, Weihai has continuously helped textile and garment enterprises diversify their development, enhancing the vitality of businesses and creating a modern textile industrial cluster with distinct regional characteristics. Weihai currently boasts a total of 153 textile and garment enterprises above designated size, generating 19.1 billion yuan ($2.64 billion) in operating income last year.
"Next, we will build on the foundation of the textile and garment industry in Weihai, focusing on 'creating quality products, improving quality, and building brands,' injecting innovative elements such as intelligent manufacturing, flexible production, and personalized customization into the industry, making the industry more high-end, branding, fashion, and personalization. By leveraging new quality productive forces, we aim to invigorate the textile and garment industry in the city and spur new development," said Liu Haiyan, deputy director of the Bureau of Industry and Information Technology of Weihai.
