Small market exudes great energy
To address the diverse needs of community residents, a neighborhood public welfare market event was recently held in the Qigutuan Community of Jingyuan subdistrict – located in Huancui district, Weihai, Shandong province.
Featuring multiple stalls that cover nearly all aspects of residents' daily lives, the event drew a large number of participants.
The atmosphere was particularly vibrant at the haircut booth, where skilled hairdressers provided complimentary services to residents over 60 years old. Community workers and hairdressers also extended their services to elderly residents with mobility challenges in their homes.
The traditional Chinese medicine therapy booth also proved to be popular, with doctors conducting pulse checks, blood pressure measurements and therapeutic massages.
What's more, Master Yu, an expert in the intangible cultural heritage of chuidao – a traditional Chinese therapeutic practice that involves using special tools, often hammer-like instruments, to deliver rhythmic tapping or percussion on the body – helped alleviate residents' discomfort in the shoulders, neck, waist and other areas, earning high praise.
Additionally, six property managers from the Qigucun community remained on-site throughout the event, interacting face-to-face with residents to better grasp their specific requirements. Meanwhile, community workers offered consultations on livelihood issues, policy initiatives and anti-fraud campaigns, as well as distributed informational brochures on-site.
