Leverage technology to drive high-quality development
The Kuiwen district of Weifang city in East China's Shandong province has recently implemented a comprehensive approach to support enterprise development throughout its entire lifecycle. This strategy integrates government support, community engagement and business collaboration to chart targeted growth trajectories for enterprises. As a result, the district has nurtured over 50 gazelle companies, specialized innovators, national high-tech enterprises and more than 130 small and medium-sized technology-based enterprises.
Kuiwen district places a strong emphasis on talent development, particularly in critical technological aspects such as intellectual property, talent composition, and research and development (R&D) investment. This focus aims to identify distinctive strengths that drive fresh development impetus through intellectual capital. Through top-tier talents and projects in high-level entrepreneurship competitions, the district has recognized over 20 exceptional participants, with 11 emerging as industry-leading talents.
Moreover, Kuiwen has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to elevating R&D investment within enterprises by implementing strategies such as guiding the establishment of R&D institutions, standardizing R&D operations and providing tailored services. This dedication has resulted in an increase of over 15 percent in R&D expenditure in 2023, accompanied by a continuous uptrend in R&D investment intensity.
Furthermore, the Kuiwen district maximizes the impact of science and technology financing to assist enterprises in overcoming challenges related to obtaining loans and funding. This support has facilitated more than 10 enterprises in securing loans for technology transfers, ensuring that science and technology-driven businesses have the necessary financial resources to thrive.
