Ancient river in Shandong's county records the rich history
Linshu county in Shandong province is named after the nearby Shuhe River. Consequently, the Shuhe River is often called the "mother river" of Linshu county.
The river is not only a beautiful ecological and scenic treasure but also one rich in historical and cultural significance.
With a history spanning thousands of years, the ancient Shuhe River courses through the southwest portion of Linshu county. The area along both banks boasts rich and diverse tourism resources, including numerous historical and cultural sites. Notable attractions include the ancient battlefield of the Battle of Maling at Yangshan Mountain, the Dawenkou cultural site at Qiaomaijian village, the Danxia landforms at Daijian village, and dinosaur relics at Jishan Mountain. The scenic beauty of these sites along the ancient river path, combined with their historical significance, offers superb value for tourism and scientific research.

The ancient Shuhe River, though lacking the grandeur of other mighty rivers, exudes a unique charm in tandem with the humble mountains along its banks. Over thousands of years, it has evolved into a gentle and delicate landscape. Across the rolling hills lie layers of historical allure. Along the river, a lush green canopy forms a ribbon of emerald. Its winding waterways, reed clusters, and abundant wildlife paint a picturesque scene reminiscent of a Chinese ink painting. This rare wild wetland, similar in beauty to the Lijiang River in Yangshuo county of Guilin, in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, captivates tourists with its natural splendor.
