Zhu Shuhua, a student from Shanxian county, Shandong, organized a Chinese cultural exchange event at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation. Russian students and professors were invited to learn about Chinese paper-cutting, calligraphy, and Chinese knot-making, experiencing the allure of traditional Chinese culture.

In the paper-cutting segment, Zhu showcased works by Yao Hong, a renowned inheritor of the craft from Shanxian. Vivid patterns featuring carp, rabbit, and dragon motifs left a lasting impression on attendees with their unique characteristics. The adorable portrayal of Bing Dwen Dwen, the mascot of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, garnered praise in particular for its creativity.

During the calligraphy segment, Zhu presented the work of Shanxian calligrapher Zhou Jianjun. His pieces, blending masterful strokes with profound content, exude aesthetic pleasure.

The Chinese knot, a craft unique to China, embodies profound wisdom and cultural significance, epitomizing traditional Chinese culture. "Comprising various elements such as the knot's body, ear-like loops, and tassels, the Chinese knot, when combined with different knot styles or auspicious patterns, conveys blessings and deep meanings of unity, happiness, and warmth," said Zhu. The Russian students enthusiastically expressed their desire to bring the Chinese knots home.

This event not only showcases traditional Chinese culture to Russian students, but also presents an opportunity for both sides to increase mutual exchanges and deepen friendships.

Zhu expressed his commitment to organizing more events aimed at promoting outstanding Chinese culture to his Russian peers. Through these initiatives, he aims to cultivate seeds of friendship and foster mutual communication and exchange between China and Russia, contributing to stronger ties between the two nations.
