E-commerce live streaming boosts sales of garlic sprouts
More than 20 influencers gathered in Lanling county - located in Linyi city in East China's Shandong province - to hold a unique live-streaming event featuring fresh garlic sprouts on May 8.
One standout stream host, Eryueban, from the short video community Kuaishou, proudly showcased Lanling's garlic sprouts, expressing his pride as a native of the region. During the live stream, he passionately introduced the planting process, distinctive flavor, and health benefits of Lanling garlic sprouts to viewers, attracting a significant following and driving sales.
"The purpose of this agricultural live-streaming activity was to promote the Lanling garlic sprouts brand, expand sales channels, and enhance the product's popularity," said Huang Demeng, vice-president of the business promotion council of Lanling commerce bureau.
Lanling, one of China's most famous garlic-producing areas, has a long history of garlic cultivation. This county is expected to produce 362 million catties (a catty is a Chinese measure equal to 500 grams) of garlic sprouts by 2024, with a planting area of 315,000 mu (21,000 hectares). Lanling garlic sprouts, known for their fragrant, crispy, sweet, spicy, and long-lasting qualities, are well-received in the market.
Looking ahead, Lanling county will continue to strengthen online promotional channels like e-commerce live streaming, improve the supply chain for characteristic agricultural products, bolster local brands, and support farmers in increasing their income and achieving greater prosperity.
