Shandong's acrobatics troupe delights at Seoul Circus Festival
The Ningjin Acrobatics Troupe from Ningjin county, Dezhou city, Shandong province, was invited to participate in the Seoul Circus Festival in South Korea from May 4 to 5. Collaborating with the Dongchun Circus from South Korea, the artists presented the show Superman Flying Up, which received cheers from the Korean audience. The live audience that day exceeded 30,000 people.
The Seoul Circus Festival is South Korea's only circus-themed art festival, attracting acrobatics troupes from around the world every year. "The Ningjin acrobatic troupe has a cultural exchange history of over 20 years with the Dongchun Circus and the South Korean Circus Association. The innovative artistic style and impressive performance skills of Ningjin acrobatics are warmly embraced by audiences in South Korea," said Park Se-hwan, president of the Korean Circus Association.
Ningjin, known as the "hometown of acrobatics", showcases acrobatics characterized by concision, ruggedness, and a harmonious blend of strength and flexibility. Ningjin acrobatics were officially inscribed on the national intangible cultural heritage list in 2008. At the 2023 Seoul World Circus Festival, the Ningjin Acrobatics Troupe's performance of Big Flywheel won the Best Work Award, shining as a symbol of cultural exchange between China and South Korea.
