Twelve foreign students from countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Russia, Morocco, and Mongolia visited Qingyun county on May 1. During their trip, they practiced baduanjin, or Eight Brocade Exercises, a traditional Chinese exercise, and learned about traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), jade carving and Chinese calligraphy.
At the TCM hospital in Qingyun county, the students learned baduanjin under the guidance of physicians and accompanied by soothing traditional music.
"TCM is a treasure of ancient Chinese science. Its charm lies in its natural therapy techniques, which is what fascinates me the most," said Bozaz Nassim, a student from Morocco.
The students also visited the TCM culture museum, where they were offered detailed introductions to the history and basic principles of TCM, as well as basic facts about Chinese herbs through illustrations and physical exhibits.
The intricate jade carvings at the entrance of the cultural center in Zhongding township, Qingyun county captivated many foreign visitors.
"It's incredible! Such exquisite works carved on such a small olive pit. I must show it to my friends," said Kontyshev Konstantin, a Russian student.
In addition, students tried their hands at Chinese calligraphy on fans with the guidance of calligraphers.
They visited the cultural center, gaining a deeper understanding of Qingyun through its origins, history, and folklore, enriching their appreciation of China's traditional intangible cultural heritage. (Edited by Yang Yi)
