Zhuangkeli, a village located in Binzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone in Binzhou, East China's Shandong province, was known for its poverty and dilapidated buildings before 2011. However, under the leadership of 34-year-old Li Haibin, it has undergone a remarkable transformation, becoming a village renowned in the province for its beauty and prosperity.
After taking charge of the village in 2011, Li spearheaded numerous initiatives to improve the living conditions and environment for the entire community. The village underwent comprehensive upgrades including the installation of piped water, renovation of the agricultural power grid, modernization of toilets, conversion from coal to gas, and extensive greening efforts.
These initiatives have not only enhanced the village's environment but have also positioned it as a model for comprehensive environmental improvement in the entire city.
In 2023, over 130 solar-powered street lights were installed, simultaneously lighting up the village while maximizing energy conservation.
"We're now no worse off than those in the city!" said villager Zhang Jinping.
To ensure stable and increased incomes for farmers, the village committee ensures that farmland ditches are dredged every year, ensuring irrigation during dry periods and drainage during floods.
Currently, Zhuangkeli village is home to 146 registered companies, and over 100 villagers engaged in mesh screening and timber procurement transportation.
A decade of dedication has realized the dream of creating a new rural community. The remarkable transformation of Zhuangkeli village serves as a testament to the power of community-driven development and stands as a model for rural vitalization. (Edited by Xie Zhenzhen)
