Endless beauty of spring in Shandong's district
In April, residents in the Hedong district of Linyi city in East China's Shandong province gather with their families for leisurely walks and waterfront relaxation in the local parks, creating a harmonious atmosphere.
The rivers are densely distributed within Hedong district. The integration of water and the city creates a beautiful environment, especially the natural surroundings along the Yihe River, making Hedong even more pleasant and livable.
In recent years, Hedong has focused on urban greening and city park development. In 2021, it established a Shandong province holistic tourism demonstration area and developed the cultural and tourism industry along the east bank of the Yihe River. In 2023, an urban greening initiative was launched, including the construction of five large parks and 47 pocket parks, with plans for province-wide promotion.
To further enhance park experiences for citizens, Hedong has added fitness facilities, shaded parking lots, and convenience stations based on the actual needs of the open areas. Maintenance of green spaces and facilities has also been increased, allowing residents to enjoy nature at their doorstep and fully embrace the beauty of spring. Currently, 22 urban park green spaces have been opened and shared, achieving the goal of making urban park green spaces accessible to everyone.
At present, Hedong district has one provincial-level tourist resort and nine national A-level or above tourist attractions and has formed the initial core of a holistic tourism industry system integrating dining, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, entertainment, and shopping.
