Qingyun county in Shandong province has been prioritizing the development of the lithium-sodium battery new energy industry.
The county has established an industrial park focusing on new energy, green, and zero carbon development, and has developed and attracted 32 new energy projects with a total investment of 6.95 billion yuan ($960.41 million).
Thanks to well-developed upstream and downstream support and as well as a strong ability to attract projects, companies became profitable just two months after they commenced production.
"Various raw materials such as conductive agents, diluents, and high-temperature adhesive paper are all available in the park, significantly reducing costs related to purchasing supplies," said Li Chao, general manager of Shandong Yibo New Energy Technology Co, a major company in Qingyun county.
The company has launched the first digital sodium-ion battery production line in China.
Qingyun county has formed a vertically-integrated industrial chain layout from battery materials, cells, packs, energy storage systems to backend applications, hierarchical applications, and recycling, said Chen Zhiyong, an official of the county.
The industrial park is emerging as a key battleground for intelligent manufacturing in the lithium-sodium battery new energy industry with influence in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and is competitive across Shandong province, Chen added. (Edited by Yang Yi)
