Experts assist spring farming in Shandong's county
East China's Shandong province recently launched its 2024 Spring Farming Action in Dongming county, administered by Heze city, with the aim of addressing technical challenges in spring farming production.
Over 5,000 agricultural experts have been mobilized to venture out into rural communities and give them the benefit of their knowledge and experience.
In the Changxingji township of Dongming county, for example, experts collaborated with big grain growers – conducting field assessments, sharing agricultural know-how and tailoring management strategies for wheat seedlings and subsequent growth stages.
In Dongming county alone, the initiative covered inspections of over 8,300 mu (553.33 hectares) of wheat fields and 76 vegetable greenhouses. Moreover, more than 900 key personnel received specialized training, directly benefiting over 11,000 individuals.

The focus of the initiative is on providing targeted technical guidance on various key aspects of cultivation – including seedling breeding, water and fertilizer management, frost and drought prevention, as well as pest control.
The overarching goal is to pave the way for the modernization of agricultural practices and crop varieties, ensuring sustainable farming in the region. (Edited by Zhou Yunlai)
