Weihai city in Shandong province celebrated the 2024 "World Water Day · China Water Week" on March 22 with an opening ceremony for a water conservation promotion campaign at Huancuilou Square.
The event featured informative displays, the distribution of materials, and a mass signing for a "Water Conservation Initiative". Residents participated in activities and pledged to conserve water.
"I learned some water-saving tips through the activities. Conserving and protecting water resources is our undeniable responsibility. We should cultivate the habit of water conservation in our daily lives and contribute to the sustainable use of water resources," said Weihai resident Xin Linlin.
Weihai also organized engaging events, such as quizzes and water conservation outreach in communities, schools, and enterprises. These efforts will encourage water conservation and raise awareness about protecting water sources.
"We will continue to strengthen water resource management, enhance water usage supervision, and promote a water-saving society," said Lyu Shoujie, deputy director of the inspection detachment of Weihai's Water Administration.
Lyu also said that across the city, a number of water-saving units, communities and universities, as well as water efficiency leaders will be selected, named, and commended. This will fully leverage their demonstrative and leading effects, driving all industries and citizens to become advocates for water conservation. (Edited by Jiang Ting)
