Qihe's 5 intangible cultural heritage items make municipal list
The five intangible cultural heritage items in Qihe, a county in Dezhou, Shandong province, were recently included among the eighth group of municipal items.
The five listed intangible cultural heritage items are Yikang sauced beef making techniques, Chinese-style conjuring, straw painting, traditional Yellow River treatment, and framing techniques.
Qihe has in recent years been exploring the development of its intangible culture resources by establishing an e-commerce platform and an experience and display center for hand-made products.
Handicrafts, including carvings, Xiaozhou mooncakes, and gourd sculpting, have become the top sellers at the Shandong Handmade Products display center.
The country has also built 10 intangible cultural heritage workshops, 16 educational bases and 20 training schools to better protect and further promote these traditional techniques. (Edited by Gong Jun)
