Yacht industry thrives in Weihai

Weihai, a coastal city in Shandong province, has seen a rise in water sports and leisure activities, with yachting becoming a popular pastime.

Weihai Xigang Yacht Co Ltd, a leading enterprise in the research, design, and manufacturing of composite material vessels, is making significant strides in the industry.

The company has invested heavily into crafting molds that are suitable for different boat types. These molds, essential in the manufacturing process, take two to three months to create after the boat design phase.

Chen Shuhu, executive deputy general manager of the company, proudly showcased a 28-meter-long and 5.5-meter-wide deck mold that was designed for a new leisure fishing boat in Hainan during an interview. The first vessel is expected to be delivered by the end of July, with the second following by the end of August, he said. (Edited by Jiang Ting)
