In Dutang town, Dingtao district, Heze, Shandong province, villagers recently took advantage of the good weather to spread urea and other fertilizers in the wheat fields.
"The weather has been good, and it’s getting warmer. Due to the deep sowing depth, the wheat seedlings on my land are relatively weak. I thought I'd take advantage of the weather to apply topdressing early. This will lay a good foundation for a bountiful wheat harvest this year," said Li Mingxi, a wheat grower in Peihe village, Dutang town.
This year, Dutang town has planted more 2,600 hectares of wheat, and spring is a crucial period for its growth and development, which is why the agricultural and rural affairs office of Dutang town has organized for professional and technical personnel to conduct field research on the growth of wheat and provide targeted guidance to farmers.
"After inspection, most of the wheat is currently in the tillering stage. For some plots with strong growth, methods such as suppression can be employed to control the wheat seedlings, which can prevent lodging and also improve soil temperature," explained director Zhang of the agricultural and rural affairs office in Dutang town.
