Timber sector grows apace in Shandong's county
Caoxian county – located in Heze city in East China's Shandong province – is emerging as a central hub in China's timber industry.
Recent years have seen the county extend its timber processing industry supply chain – prioritizing innovation and quality enhancement to bolster the sector as a cornerstone of the local economy.
One of those at the forefront of this is Caoxian Luyi Wood Industry Co Ltd, a private company founded over 40 years ago. Workers like Zhang Fenglin, from Zhangcaiyuan village in Weiwan town, are hard at it every day fulfilling international trade orders – highlighting the robust demand for Caoxian's timber products.
"To meet market demand, we've upgraded our equipment, introducing advanced woodworking technologies for smarter and larger-scale production," Zhang said.

To tackle challenges such as industry reliance and resource scarcity, Caoxian county has launched its "Six Industrial Parks" project. Emphasizing green, smart and high-end development, it aims to invigorate local industrial parks and support the growth of key enterprises in the timber industry.
Caoxian county is currently home to 295 large-scale timber processing enterprises, significantly bolstering the local economy. Future plans include attracting targeted investments in the timber industry supply chain and focusing on major new projects, aligning with the strategic goal of enhancing quality and efficiency.
