In the village of Houtun, located in Suliuzhuang town of Xiajin county, the dynamic duo, Chi Yulong and Cui Yufu, are engrossed in the age-old art of roasting seasoned beans and flour eggs.
They share a fascinating insight, "To achieve the true essence of this delicacy, one must use sand from the ancient Yellow River bed—it's the secret to authenticity!"
This special sand, treasured like "gold", boasts a fine texture, pristine quality, and excellent fluidity, making it the ideal medium for roasting beans in an iron pot until they're perfectly puffed and fragrant.
This tradition, with its roots tracing back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907), carries a deep symbolic meaning—it represents wishes for favorable weather, bountiful harvests, and an elevated quality of life.
