Quality farm produce from Linyi city seeks overseas markets
The Lanshan district of Linyi city – located in East China's Shandong province – has in recent years prioritized speeding up and expanding exports of agricultural products, in order to promote its rural vitalization.
The district is currently home to eight agricultural product processing and export enterprises, with a diverse range of products including soy products, fried goods, nuts, ham sausages, frozen vegetables and fruit.
One prime example is Shandong Xiaochaowang Food Co Ltd, a food processing business that has self-operated import and export rights, with exports accounting for about half of the annual output.
In 2021, the company widened its market in the European Union and it now has a firm presence in the Spanish market.
"People in Southeast Asian countries like melon seeds and our products are quite popular," said general manager Lin Xiangsheng.
To meet the diverse needs of the international market, Lanshan district has boosted its brand creation and guided its enterprises to carry out order-based international business. It has also organized 17 resident companies to participate in more than 20 exhibitions.
Jiang Baojian, deputy director of Lanshan district's bureau of agriculture and rural affairs, said that the district has helped Shandong Xiaochaowang Food to invest over 20 million yuan ($2.78 million) to build a nut research and development center, thereby bolstering the high-quality development of the agricultural product processing industry in the entire region.
