Shandong county boosts cattle husbandry
In Guanxian county, Shandong province, Yang Hongjian, at his yellow cattle farm, works with optimism revealed.
Luxi Yellow Cattle, known for their yellowish coats, faced population challenges in the 1990s.
To conserve and expand the Luxi Yellow Cattle population, Guanxian county established breeding and fattening facilities. Yang invested one million yuan ($140,657.1) in 2010, introducing 100 purebred Luxi Yellow Cattle cows. Today, the farm hosts 300 cattle, including 13 breeding bulls.

Guanxian county's efforts not only sustain Luxi Yellow Cattle in local farms but also distribute them nationally. Last year, Yang registered a specific trademark, investing 1.5 million yuan to expand facilities, creating over a dozen jobs in the village.
Now, Yang's farm processes 40 Luxi Yellow Cattle annually, selling 10 tonnes of organic beef, with a turnover exceeding 1.3 million yuan.
Yang's dedication reflects the broader commitment to preserving Luxi Yellow Cattle, an emblematic breed in Shandong province. Through strategic breeding and innovation, Guanxian county showcases the potential of rural revitalization.
