In recent days, at a flower bun shop in Suntang village, Bandi town, Dingtao district, Heze city, Shandong province,  artisan Zhang Na is kneading and molding dough and using various tools to cut, press, assemble, and stick to create a dragon-themed flower bun.

"The one we're making now is called 'auspicious dragon bringing good fortune', and it sells very well. The color combination is carefully chosen, using pumpkin puree for yellow, red glutinous rice for red, and butterfly pea flower tea for blue. The colors are rich and vibrant, and the ingredients are also very healthy," said Zhang.

As the Year of the Dragon approaches, flower buns themed on the dragon have been popular among the public.

On the display stands, a diverse array of flower buns with lucky motifs such as fortune bags, ingots, longevity peaches, and koi fish are ubiquitous. According to Zhang, anything with an auspicious meaning that brings joy and color to the Spring Festival receives a large number of orders, as people hope to start the New Year on a high note.
