Tai'an city repurposes idle land, raising living conditions
Wenmiao sub-district in Ningyang county – located in Tai'an city, East China's Shandong province – is utilizing idle land to build parking lots, sports parks and public activity venues to improve the living conditions of its residents.
Addressing fencing and boundary issues involving 12 villages and 27 plots of land, Wenmiao sub-district set up a special team to help formulate plans and solve problems.
This has added 1,500 mu (100 hectares) of idle land to be reused for greening, scenic enhancement and functional renovations.
In early August, the sub-district cleared 27 parcels of idle land covering 15,000 square meters, 136,000 cubic meters of garbage, as well as 230,000 sq m of weeds and shrubs.
To draft its optimal plans for idle land resources, Ningyang county has conducted on-site inspections and taken the opinions of residents into account.
The county now has built seven temporary parking lots, offering 1,500 parking spaces, as well as convenience markets or activity venues.
It has also planted over 60,000 seedlings, adding 300,000 sq m of green space. (Edited by Chen Chuxuan)
