The Weihai Torch High-Tech Industry Development Zone in Weihai city – located in East China's Shandong province – hosted an exhibition showing handicrafts and other intangible cultural heritage, or ICH items on Jan 28, as part of the Chinese New Year festivities.
Students from 25 schools and ICH inheritors participated in on-site demonstrations and exhibitions of traditional crafts, allowing the public to experience their charm up close.
The event is part of the 2024 Spring Festival Shandong Rural Culture and Tourism Festival series. Its aim is to promote the integration of ICH items and traditional festivals, enhance public awareness and respect for ICH and to enrich the community's overall cultural life.
The event featured displays of paper-cutting, embroidery, clay sculptures, and calligraphy, interactive experience opportunities and a small gifts giveaway, attracting a large influx of visitors. (Edited by Jiang Ting)
