Hanfu-inspired outfits from Shandong become online hit

Hanfu-inspired Chinese New Year outfits from Caoxian county – located in Heze city, in East China's Shandong province – are selling like hot cakes online as they become a trendy choice for blending fashion and culture.

Hanfu is the traditional clothing of the Han ethnic group in China.

The outfit consists of two main parts. The upper part features a traditional cotton-padded jacket with style and design modifications, including zodiac embroidery like dragons and phoenixes. Sleeve cuffs and lengths are adjusted for a modern touch and fur is added around the collar for warmth.

The lower part is a centuries-old Chinese skirt called a horse-face skirt, offering a silky texture and elegant lines that exude grace.

In addition to the high demand for adult New Year outfits, children's outfits are also in short supply.

"For children's outfits, we've been live streaming for four days. Sales are booming, almost sold out in just a few days," said Yu Jing, head of Caoxian County Swan Clothing Co Ltd, during a promotional live stream.

"Now, the factory is working hard to restock and ensure a stable supply in the future," Yu added.

Currently, Caoxian county is home to 7,068 e-commerce enterprises with 83,500 online stores. The county's total online retail sales hit 34.7 billion yuan ($4.84 billion) last year, representing robust growth of 14.9 percent year-on-year and indicating a thriving development trend.
