Yantai city rolls out innovative elderly care program
Yantai city's Laishan District Civil Affairs Bureau has launched a new elderly care initiative that has significantly improved the lives of senior residents by looking after their personal needs.
During the recent cold snap in Yantai, Yang Xiaorong, a member of the bureau, showcased the program's intent by visiting Yang Buzhao, an 89-year-old resident who lives alone in Yetouxi village on Jiejiazhuang street.
The program sees care worker pay visits to the elderly and offer companionship as well as help with daily tasks. Yang Buzhao praised the service, comparing the workers to his own family members.
Under Yantai's basic elderly care service list, seniors can access over 20 basic services based on their individual needs, including visitation and care, health management, and various subsidies.
A key feature is the ability assessments conducted by the civil affairs department for those over 65.
Xu Minghao, deputy director of Yantai City Civil Affairs Bureau, said that thorough planning was done before launching this initiative. "We've carefully tailored our services to meet both national standards and the specific needs of our senior population," he stated. (Edited by Cai Liting)
