Guesthouses leverage development of rural tourism
Dongmeng town in Feixian county, Shandong province has become a popular stopover for tourists interested in the beautiful scenery of Mengshan Mountain. Taking advantage of its strategic location, Dongmeng town has embarked on an ambitious journey to develop its tourism industry by creating a cluster of guesthouses.
To achieve this goal, unused residential houses and homesteads have been leased and transferred for renovation. A professional team from Zhejiang province has been enlisted to plan and design the transformed homestead area.
As a result, a range of new facilities, such as themed guesthouse hotels and farmhouse restaurants, have been established, complemented by the creation of essential infrastructure like rural health tourism roads and rural water conservancy networks.
The village's collective income is projected to see a substantial boost with the renovation of Tianmeng village's guesthouses. The initiative is expected to generate an additional collective income of 200,000 yuan ($28,210.87), representing an annual household income increase of 10,000 yuan per resident.
This transformation aligns the stunning natural beauty of the region with an equally captivating economic opportunity, providing local villagers with employment prospects right at their doorstep. (Edited by He Yuge)
